Which Fiesta you have

Mk6 (2002–2008) — old enough that corrosion on the nut face is common. Wipe it and spray it before photographing.
Mk7 (2008–2017) — for years the best-selling car in Britain, and by far the most common Fiesta we're asked about.
Mk8 (2017–2023) — including the ST. Later pattern range.

The first-car problem

The Fiesta is the car most people in this country learn to own. That means an unusually high proportion are on their third or fourth owner by their tenth birthday, and the little plastic case with the key in it rarely survives more than two of those handovers.

It also means a lot of Fiestas are on wheels they didn't leave the factory with — a set of alloys off another car, bought at eighteen and never changed back. If that's yours, the nuts came with the wheels and have nothing to do with your registration. The photograph is the only route.

You can't look it up by registration

Ford uses a numbered range of patterns rather than one key per model, and the number isn't recorded against your reg. Two Fiestas built the same week can carry different patterns. This surprises people who expect a dealer to be able to look it up — often they can't, and when they can it's for the set the car originally had.

Where the key usually is

Boot, under the floor, in the foam tool tray with the jack. On the Mk7 it's often in the glovebox instead. Check the door bins too — on a small car that's where things end up. And ring your tyre place before buying anything.
