Which 500 you have

500 / 500C (2008 on) — the hatch and the fabric-roof cabrio. Fifteen years of production, several wheel designs, and the locking pattern is not the same across all of them.
Abarth 500 / 595 / 695 — different wheels again, usually 17", and almost always on locking nuts because the alloys are worth stealing.
500L (2012–2022) — bigger car, bigger wheels, different range of numbers.
500X (2015 on) — the crossover. Shares more with the Jeep Renegade than with the little 500.
500e (2021 on) — the electric one, current range.

The 500's specific problem: the wheel trim

On a lot of 500s the locking nut sits behind a plastic cap or under a full trim, and people have never seen it. That is genuinely the most common message we get about this car — "I can't find the locking nut." Look for the one nut out of four or five that has a cap on it, or a shallow plastic cover flush with the face. Prise it off gently with a flat blade wrapped in a cloth. Underneath is the pattern we need to see.

If the cap is missing and the nut has been sat exposed to salt, wipe it with a rag and a bit of brake cleaner before photographing. Corrosion in the recess is what makes a photo unreadable, not the camera.

Fiat shares its patterns

Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Abarth and the later Jeep models draw from an overlapping range of locking patterns. That is good news — we see these keys constantly — but it means a chart telling you "all Fiat 500s use key X" is wrong. Your year and trim matter, and so does whether the wheels are the originals.
